Serving 30 Day Notice to Vacate (San Diego)?
Due to health and safety violations with a condo rental, my son and I are terminating my 1 year lease after 3 months of signing. I have contacted environmental health with my concerns regarding this matter, and they are scheduled to come and inspect next week. I also have contacted The Center for Social Advocacy and was advised that there is enough concerns to break lease.
I have written my 30 Day Notice to Vacate, citing various failures on management’s part to repair items that were reported. I wanted to serve this notice in person as well as pay my last thirty day rent on Sept. 1st, but it is a holiday. According to my lease I have until the 5th of each month to pay rent or pay a late fee penalty of $50.
Does this apply to serving the notice also?
If I pay on Tues Sept 2nd, should I expect to get stuck for another month or just pay an extra day?
I feel I have enough evidence to justify this quit but want to make sure that I dot my i’s and cross all my t’s!
