Trusting Condo owners in Miami Beach?
Hello I am trying to rent 2 studios for the 4th of july week. I found couple of condos in the hotel shelbrone and Casablanca. But the owners of the condos are asking me to send them paypal deposit of the full rental payment.
Now how will I be sure they will be there to give me the key?
I asked them this questions they said to read reviews. But anyone can put these reviews up.
What should I do to make sure I will not be scammed?
You need to put their information into search engines and see what you find. Most reputable owners will be one more than one big vacation rentals portals. There are a lot of scams in the vacation rentals industry so you are right to be cautious.
1) Search the persons name
2) Search the phone number
3) get the exact address of the property and put it on google maps street view, see if the pics match
4) is the price below market rate? if so you may be getting scammed, miami beach is very busy and doesn’t need to lower prices to stay booked
BUT – one good thing about paypal is you can call your credit card company to get a chargeback if things go wrong. PayPal 9/10 times wont dispute a charge and you will get all your money back.
